UF Sculpture December 2-18, 2010
UF Sculpture curated by James Nguyen is a collaboration of past and present sculpture students presenting their work juxtaposed by large format photographs identifying each artist. The work is quite diverse, ranging from a carpeted bird house with a video installation inside to a stack of white boxes with surprising colors on the inside. The goal of the exhibit is to display the range of work that is produced from the UF sculpture department, where the artists are now and where they are going.

Selection and Review Committee
Right now we are working on making "the gallery"'s Call to Artists more official. We want to set up a Selection and Review Committee to select works to be exhibited in the gallery for the upcoming semesters as well as suggest any improvements or overall ideas to help run the gallery. We want to require committee members to attend at least one gallery reception and send a review on the overall quality of the exhibit, and possible improvements for catering, attendance, publicity, and appearance.
To apply, you must be a UF student. The problem we're facing, is the majority of people who come to the Call to Artists meeting are Fine Arts majors. We want to open it up to as many possible majors as we can. So right now the issue is getting the word out to other departments.
More updates to come!

Reception for "Material Language"
The turn out was amazing! I would guess around 150-200 people throughout the entire night came. There was a lot of great feedback and positive remarks on all of the work. The models wearing the garments made the night, it created an interactive environment that allowed people to really examine the weaving of plastic bags and feathers.
